She was intelligent, beautiful, and determined. Yet there was an emptiness and depression inside of her that she did not know how to handle. It was that emptiness and depression that almost destroyed her. Her battles and struggles ranged from abortion to rape, cancer, and a heart attack. She was homeless, mentally abused in a broken marriage, and ostracized by the church. Yet through it all, she built a loving relationship with God amidst the turmoil around her. I wrote How Can I Escape to give hope to souls who believe their lives are chaotic.

It is through Christ Jesus through his suffering and humiliation here on earth that he paved a way for redemption and eternal salvation. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. (Hebrews 2:9)
